In response, Chaudhry Fawad said that this right belongs to the elected Prime Minister. If the present government has such a dream, it will create chaos and instability in the country. Permanent appointments are the right of the elected government. This government does not have this right.
In response to this, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar of the PPP said that making this appointment already controversial is an irresponsible attempt by your party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to push the country towards anarchy. It is true that the appointment of the Army Chief is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. If new elections are held before the retirement of the Army Chief, then the new Prime Minister will appoint the new Commander-in-Chief. So this is tantamount to spreading chaos in the country. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which says that this government has come to power through a conspiracy, has no right to appoint an army chief.
If you look at the last three years, the statement of the opposition and the Nawaz League, which was in opposition then and is in government today, was that the army should not interfere in politics and the army should challenge Pakistan. The people who defamed this institution will now appoint our country’s army chief.
It should be noted that when it came time to appoint a new Army Chief after the former Prime Minister Imran Khan came to power, the PML-N and the then opposition were not ready to give this right to Imran Khan, but today they remember their right. While there is a passion between the Armed Forces of Pakistan and the people that can never be broken, the PML-N and the then opposition tried to break it and divide the country and today their government should hold elections as soon as possible. And the newly elected government should appoint the army chief.
Shouldn’t our civilian government do this by appointing the Army Chief via the Army Corps Committee itself so that the Army does not interfere in any political activities in the Civil Government? Or to support their government because everyone wants the then Army Chief to be with the then government, but then when these rulers use them for their political purposes and when they do not support them. We have seen in the past that they have been called traitors, which we have been seeing for the last three years.
